Many employers are asking Silberman Group questions relative to how their health insurance will be impacted due to COVID-19 (Corona Virus). There are several carriers who have made public service announcements regarding their position. Each health insurance carrier varies, however you will see many of them covering out of pocket costs relative to any treatment your provider recommends regarding COVID-19.
You will also notice on most carrier websites FAQ sections that include things like:
Q: I’m experiencing a fever, cough or trouble breathing and have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or someone at risk of it. What do I do?
Q: Where can I get tested for COVID-19?
Q: Will the COVID-19 test be covered by my health plan?
Q: Are there any prior authorizations required for COVID-19 treatment – and if so, will they be waived?
If you decide to write a memo to your employees, and you would like to include links with updates from your health insurance carrier and/or the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), see below.
